On this day 23rd October, Battle of Edgehill…

1642– Battle of Edgehill First major battle of the First English Civil War. It was fought near Edge Hill and Kineton in southern Warwickshire.  Both King and Parliament raised large armies to gain their way by force of arms.  King Charles decided to march on London in order to force a decisive confrontation with Parliament’s main army, commanded by the Earl of Essex.

The Civil War was a pivotal point in English history, when many Lords had to decide which side to nail there colours to.

With a large selection of lordship titles listed in the VMS from Warwickshire, and with documented history during the mid 1600’s there is plenty of choice.  Contact mailto:ltaylor@manorial.co.uk
