(1) The 4th Lord of Thingden is the Abbot Croxton who is famous for taking King John's confession. After King John's death the abbot was responsible for embalming the body. (2) In 1540 the 5th Lord of Thingden, who is also the Earl of Rutland, is appointed Lord Chamberlain to Anne of Cleves.. (3) Thomas is appointed Constable of Nottingham Castle and a Warden of the Marches.
