(1) The 1st known Lord of Pepsall was Robert Kendale who owed the service of providing a pair of spurs. (2) Robert serves as Warden of the Cinque Ports, Constable of Dover Castle and Mayor of London. (3) In 1712 the Bailiff of the Manor of Flamstead is instructed to distrain the 20th Lord of Pepsall for not providing a silk kirtle (an outer petticoat) to the Lady of the Manor on the marriage of her eldest daughter.
