The convent of Stoneley, a house of Augustinian canons founded in 1180 by William de Mandeville third Earl of Essex, held lands in this parish probably as part of their original endowment. In the Testa de Nevill their holding in Tilbrook amounted to 2 virgates. In 1302–3 the prior held the property as a tenth part of a knight's fee, by 1346 he held it in free and perpetual alms. At the Dissolution the rents of Stoneley Monastery in Tilbrook were valued at £1 14s.
