In 1251 Alexander le Boteler received from Cecil de Sanes a messuage, a mill and 1 carucate of land in Eaton to hold to himself and heirs for an annual rent of 2d. Thomas le Boteler in 1338 alienated a similar estate, then described as in Edlesborough and Eaton, to a chaplain to celebrate divine service daily in Edlesborough Church for the souls of the donor and his ancestors. There is no further trace of such an estate in Eaton, and it seems probable that this property of the Boteler family formed part of their manor of Botelers in the next parish of Edlesborough (co. Bucks.) which they held until 1350.
