3rd Lord – William Stourton, 7th Baron Stourton who is a military commander playing a key role in the Pilgrimage of Grace (a Yorkshire uprising). He bore the towel at the christening of Prince Edward (to be King Edward VI). He is appointed Deputy of Newhaven.
4th Lord – Charles Stourton is asked by Mary Tudor to help with the succession crisis but hesitated in his support until it was certain she would win the succession. Charles had a violent temper and was involved in many property disputes. He is tried for the murder of his neighbours by cutting their throats. He refused to plea but was tortured by having heavy stones placed on his body. He is found guilty and executed.
