1st Lord – Henry de Dylywyk, who owed service to the Barony of Bedford.

6th Lord – Sir Ralph Lane, the husband of Maud Parr, a first cousin of Katherine Parr, Henry VIII’s sixth wife.

7th Lord – Sir Robert Lane served as a Member of Parliament.

8th Lord – Henry Mordaunt, 4th Lord Mordaunt was suspected as being part of the Gun Powder Plot.  The evidence was a not conclusive so his life was spared but he is still fined £10,000.

9th Lord – John Mordaunt is made a Knight of the Bath.  Sir John accompanied King James on his Scottish campaign.  Sir John served as Deputy Lord Lieutenant and as forester of part of Rockingham Forest.  He is created Earl of Peterborough, and appointed Lord Lieutenant of Northamptonshire.

10th Lord – Henry Mordaunt abandoned a captaincy in his father’s troop in the Parliamentary army and took up a command of a regiment of horse under King Charles.  He was seriously wounded at the first Battle of Newbury.  Henry fought at the Battle of Naseby and submits to Parliament, his estates confiscated.  After the Civil War Henry was appointed Governor of Tangier.  Later he is appointed Lord Lieutenant of Northamptonshire and given command of a troop in the Duke of York’s regiment of horse.
