1st Lord – Alexander Hody, a strong supporter of the House of Lancaster.

2nd Lord – John Seymour is knighted in the field by King Henry VII for his service against Cornish rebels.  Sir John is appointed High Sheriff of Wiltshire four times.  He is appointed a Knight of the Body to King Henry VIII.  He is created a Knight Banneret (leads a company of troops in time of war under his own banner).  Sir John is appointed High Sheriff of Somerset and Dorset, then Groom of the Bedchamber.  One of Sir John’s children is Jane Seymour (wife to King Henry VIII).

18th Lord – Edward Seymour is created Earl of Hertford and Warden of the Scottish Marches.  He is then appointed Lord High Admiral.  Edward is appointed Lieutenant of the Realm under Catherine Parr while King Henry is absent in Boulogne.  He is appointed Commander of Boulogne.  Edward becomes Lord Protector of the Realm and Governor of the King’s person (King Edward VI) and Creates himself Duke of Somerset.  Edward is arrested after the ruling Council fear his position.  He is released but arrested again and take to the Tower of London.  He is beheaded upon Tower Hill.
