1st Lord – William Giffard owes service to the earl of Warwick.  Halford contains a motte and bailey castle.

2nd Lord – Andrew Giffard, Baron of Funtell.

7th Lord – Robert de Holand assists the hunt for fugitives from the Banastre Rebellion.  In 1322 Sir Robert is asked by King Edward II to bring horses and men to fight in the Lancastrian rebellion.  12 days later Sir Robert betrays the king and fights with the Lancastrians at the Battle of Boroughbridge.  After their defeat Sir Robert is imprisoned and his lands confiscated.  Sir Robert escapes from Northampton Castle but is later pardoned.

8th Lord – Sir John Lovell, Baron Lovell has a 32 year career as a Member of Parliament.  He does homage at King Richard’s coronation.  He is made Keeper of Devizes Castle.  Sir John is appointed Constable of Corfe and Ludlow Castles.  He is instructed to survey and fortify the town of Southampton.

9th Lord – William Lovell serves a 31 year career as a Member of Parliament.  William is appointed Constable of Wallingford Castle.
