1st Lord – William Bessels of Bessels Leigh, who owed service to Thomas Denton.

6th Lord – John Fettiplace of Bessels Leigh was appointed High Sheriff of Berkshire.  John is knighted and Sir John served a second term as High Sheriff of Berkshire.

7th Lord – Bessel Fettiplace is appointed High Sheriff of Berkshire.

11th Lord – William Lenthall of Burford, Oxfordshire is appointed speaker of the “Long Parliament”.  King Charles I entered Parliament and demanded of William the names of the five opposition leaders, he famously refused.  William was elected a Knight of the Shire and Member of Parliament for Oxfordshire and once again was appointed Speaker of the House.  William supports the restoration of King Charles II and testified against a man accused of participating in the trial and execution of King Charles I.

12th Lord – John Lenthall was knighted by Oliver Cromwell and appointed High Sheriff of Oxfordshire.
