The third share of the manor inherited by Margaret wife of William Strange followed a different descent. William Strange, after the death of his wife, became tenant for life of the said property, but ignoring the limited powers of a life tenant he sold it in 1562 to Thomas Rolt. The rightful heirs of Margaret, on arriving at full age, refused to confirm the sale, and Thomas Rolt is found petitioning for redress of his grievances. In 1571, however, Walter Strange, presumably the rightful heir, quitclaimed the manor to him. The further history of this property is the same as that of the manor of Bassets (q.v.).
