Previous Lords:
The origin of the manor of GRYMSBURY may be sought in the 3 virgates of land held in Bolnhurst in 1086 by the Bishop of Coutances, which had been held in the time of the Confessor by Gudmunt. These 3 virgates were valued at 15s. After the death of the bishop his property reverted to the Crown, and the land in Bolnhurst later became parcel of the barony of Bedford.
