Alwin held the manor of King Edward in alod, and after the Conquest it was held of the king by Bernard the Falconer. The overlordship passed into the hands of the Earl of Hereford, who was holding it in the 13th century, and Humphrey de Bohun, Earl of Hereford and Essex, died seised of it in 1372–3, when with his honours it passed to the Crown.
