At the time of the Survey WILDEN MANOR, assessed at 5 hides, belonged to the Bishop of Bayeux. On his death in 1097 the overlordship of Wilden reverted to the Crown, and became attached to the king's honour of Peverel, the manor being held by service of one knight's fee. The latest mention of the overlordship has been found in 1492.
