The estate called WYFORDS, WYFOLDS or WYVOLS COURT seems to have taken its name from a family so called. William de la Wyfaude is mentioned in several deeds of the time of Henry III, Nicholas atte Wivles in the late 14th century and Nicholas Wyfold in 1485. In the 16th century the property was called a manor; it belonged in 1579 to John Pettye, and afterwards passed to George Miller, who died seised of it in 1616, leaving as his heir his son George. In 1705 a number of members of the Winchcombe family were dealing with it. It is now the residence of Mr. Ralph E. Waterer.
