Become the 13th Baron and Baroness of West Greenwich
1st Baron – Gilbert de Maminot, Bishop of Lisieux who was well known for combining hunting, hawking and great learning. He was a favourite of William the Conqueror so the barony was quite large. It provided fighting men to Dover Castle and held the role of Marshall of Dover Castle. He builds his own castle at Deptford (another name for West Greenwich) on the bank of the Thames.
3rd Baron – Walkeline de Maminot fights with King Stephen in the civil war. Empress Matilda blockades Dover Castle from both land and sea. He is made Constable of Dover Castle.
5th Baron – Geoffrey de Say fights with Richard the Lionheart in the defence of Normandy. Geoffrey accompanies William de Longchamp (Chancellor of England) with the ransom for King Richard. Geoffrey is selected as one of the sureties for Magna Carta.
7th Baron – Sir William de Say is appointed Governor of Rochester Castle.
8th Baron – William de Say fights the Welsh in the Battle of Worcester.
9th Baron – Sir Geoffrey de Say is appointed Captain and Admiral of the fleet from the Thames westwards. He is later appointed Admiral of the Western Fleet. He is made Constable of Rochester Castle.
