Become the 15th Lord and Lady of Carlton

1st Lord – Chelbert de Folksworth, who owed service to Queen Edith (King Edward the Confessor’s wife).

6th Lords – In 1278 Carlton splits into moieties (shares) and the lords are Roger Lestrange and Ralph Paynel by the right of their wives Maud and Joan.  They both owed service to The Barony of Bedford.

10th Lord – The Lestrange moiety passed to John de Mowbray, 2nd Baron Mowbray.

11th Lord – John de Mowbray is slain by Turks near Constantinople en route to the Holy Land.

12th Lord – John de Mowbray is knighted alongside the princes that became King Richard II and King Henry IV.

14th Lord – In 1392 the two moieties are joined under the ownership of Harrold Priory.
